Hello my name is John Beckett;
Since10 years of age I have enjoyed art and tend to paint from imagination
although I will sometimes use reference material; Landscapes are my favourite subject because
if you make a mistake when painting one, you just turn it into a part of the picture.
Artist Bob Ross said, "We don't make mistakes here, we just have happy accidents.
A critic once said to me “You don't have a recognisable style.” Perhaps that is my style? If my art is enjoyable to look at,
I hope you see something happy, peaceful, serene, warm, mysterious, unusual, fascinating,
and vibrant and I would like to think, interest to you.

I am also a freelance guitar/harmonica and mandolin teacher and a new member to the Kent Artists Group.
Working in the mediums of Acrylics, Gouache/water color, Oils, Pen & Ink, Coloured and graphite pencils
and even brown boot polish, here is a small selection of my work covering a number of years.

My art won't appeal to all, and realistically I can’t expect it to,
but I do take comfort in the fact that to someone somewhere it will
Possibly past my prime in terms of age, possibly, but there may be more to come. Till I drop?
I hope so. To able to sell my art on a regular basis would be nice but to help pay the bills
I have to also be a self-employed guitar teacher and gardener

As a musician, I began playing guitar at 16 in 1968, taught myself. My mum wouldn't have been able to
afford a guitar teacher, even if she knew that I wanted one. As for Dad he left my mum when I was 9.
For years I was stuck in isolation, not progressing, being a "Bedroom Guitarist" until 1992 when
I was introduced to a Folk Music Club and I learned a heck of a lot from watching others play,
and performed as a floor spot player there for 2 years.

In the year 2000 I started teaching guitar and have learned on the way and can pass on to my pupils
what I have learned over the years in the hope they don't have to take so long in learning.
My pupils have ranged from 5 years of age to 65 years of age. "And again I’ll keep going till I Drop"

I hope you liked what you saw, thank you for having me. For further details please contact Me.
